FAQ

League/Club Questions

  • When does X league/season start? - leagues are run in spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each league starts towards the beginning of the season, i.e., spring league starts in April most years and fall starts in September (remember, registration will be about a month before the league starts). Check the League Information page for current information on upcoming leagues. If you don't see the information on the League Information page you can Contact Us.
  • Why are league fees so cheap/expensive? - League fees are set each season by the WAFC officers.  The main considerations are insurance and field costs (including how many turf fields we get)  which can vary by season.  In general, the cost to run the WAFC leagues is rising, but the board tries to keep league fees as low as possible to allow more people to play.
  • I missed registration for the current league, can I join late? - the short answer is no, long answer is maybe. Occasionally, there is a brief late registration period following the close of a league registration, however, this is entirely up to the league commissioner and sometimes leagues are full. Do NOT count on being allowed into a league late! If you're looking for a clique team (a pre-formed team) you can join late at the captain's discretion. Note: "ringers" cannot be added to clique teams for the tournament and all players must fill out a waiver before playing, even if they join a team late.
  • Can you help me find a clique team? - No, however you can complete your user profile (click the "My account" link on the left) and check the box saying you're looking for a team, which will bring you up on the recruiting search tool, and you may use the website forums to advertise yourself as looking for a team.  Another way to find a team is to go to pickup and talk to people.
  • Can you help me find a player for my clique team? - No, however you can use the recruiting search tool, and look in the forums, to find a player yourself.
  • What are the league rules? - Check the specific league page for details but WAFC's general Ultimate rules are 5-2 gender ratio (5 men and 2 women) and UPA 11th (or the current version) rules.
  • It's raining, are we playing? - Probably not, but you can check the home page of the website, the Twitter account (twitter.com/dcdisc) and the hotline (301-LUV-BMAX) to get the latest scoop.

Website Questions

  • How do I register/reset my password? - http://www.wafc.org/user/password to request a new password and http://www.wafc.org/user/register to register.
  • I registered/requested a new password but never received the email, what's going on? - Check your spam folder for an email from webmaster@wafc.org. If there's no email, you may have typed your email address incorrectly during registration. Check for this by using the password reset form, http://www.wafc.org/user/password, and entering your email address instead of your username.
  • Can I change my username? - Yes, go to "My account" on the left and then click the Edit tab to modify your account details, lots of options available.
  • I want X featue on the website, can you add that? - Maybe, and probably if you're willing to help out. This is a volunteer site and we need volunteers to provide all the legwork to make improvements. If you're not willing to volunteer to help, your request falls into the category of "unfunded" requests, which means it's on the low end of the priority list.

Store Questions

  • Do I need an account to purchase something from the store? Yes, WAFC requires all store purchases to be associated with a wafc.org account because we're concerned about people abusing the store and also we want to be able to track down any problems with orders.
  • I purchased a "thing" (e.g., a disc) and I haven't received it yet. When will I get it? Probably in a few days/weeks. WAFC volunteers try to clear out the order backlog every week or two, however, it may take up to six weeks to get something if your ordered it during a down time. Generally, orders are distributed at the beginning of a league season.
  • I want a disc today, can I get it shipped to me quickly? No, but you can check at EMS in Arlington to see if they have any discs (we try to keep them stocked there).
  • How do I request a refund? Use the Contact form to request a refund. Generally, refunds are given if you make a mistake and purchase something that you don't want (e.g., 20 discs when you meant 2 discs) or when you withdraw from an event prior to the cutoff period. Individual events and products may have specific refund requirements, so pay attention when paying. Leagues generally refund registration funds prior to the first or second week of the league, tournaments up to a few weeks before the tournament date, etc. You may also directly contact Julie or Alan for a refund.
  • Can I sell X in the store? Probably not, although if you want to donate a product to WAFC for sale than you should check with the Board about that option. WAFC is a non-profit and therefore we don't collect taxes or anything else that a real store might need to do.
