Seven players per team. No substitutions, no excuses.
When: Saturday, 9 AM - 5 PM, July 19, 2008
Where: Lake Fairfax, Reston VA
What: One day tournament. Teams of 7 players (5 men, 2 women); no substitutes
Who: First 16 teams to register (two brackets of 8 teams each)
Cost is $70 per team. Rosters need to be submitted to the TD (micah AT tapman DOT net, subject:
Savage Seven) immediately after you successfully register. Refunds will NOT be granted for teams that
withdraw. Contact the TD immediately if you have to withdraw so we can coordinate a replacement
team since this is a round robin format.
There will be two brackets this year, 8 teams in each bracket.
The upper bracket is for highly skilled teams, there is no limit on the team ranking in the upper bracket.
The lower bracket is for more casual teams. There is a limit of approximately 150 on the lower bracket
(the exact limit is flexible and can be discussed with the tournament director if there's any question).
Calculate the ranking score for each player using the standard WAFC player rating system. For
example, a team of seven players with the following ratings could look something like this:
28, 26, 24, 17, 17, 18, 16, for a total of 146.
With two brackets the format will be round robin. That means seven games for every team. Games will
be played to 9 with half at 5 (sound off on the official forum thread if you want to see games to 11 or
some other number of points). There will be two timeouts per team per game.

Teams are limited to a total ranking score of 160. Calculate the ranking score
for each player using the standard
http://www.wafcstore.org/summer_player_rating_07.html WAFC
player rating system. For example, a team of seven players with the following
ratings could look something like this: 28, 26, 24, 22, 22, 18, 16, for a total
of 156. If your total exceeds 160, you need to find a different combination
of players.
Yes, WAFC does review all player ratings for sand-bagging. After registration,
you'll be contacted by the tournament director (Micah Tapman) with info on
how to submit your team roster.
Gatorade, water, and bagels will be provided, as well as trophies and bragging
rights for players of the winning team.
Contact micah AT tapman DOT net (subject: Savage Seven) for more information.
p.s. If you want to play, but don’t have a team, post a note to the WAFC
message board (in the DC area tournaments section). Conversely, if you are
a captain looking for an extra player or two, check the message board.
