WAFC Summer Advanced League 2010 Standings are below. If your team has provided me with a name, that is what I named the tab. Otherwise it is the names of your captains

Description: The WAFC Summer Advanced league is a 12 team draft league open to any competitive player in the D.C. Metro area, with the focus on a place for college and club level players to play with each other. Experienced players are encouraged to volunteer to captain.

Cost: $45 registration fee, which includes a technical jersey.

Start of Season: Tuesday, June 15, 2010 End of Season playoffs: After the regular season is over, the top 2 teams will have a first round bye into the quarters, while the next 12 teams will play pre-quarters against each other. The playoffs will happen on Tuesday and Thursdays. Just like last year, the 'tournament' will happen during the week over the course of two weeks.

Number of games: ~12 regular reason games, plus the tournament. League Days: Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Advanced League and Intermediate League play on the same nights. If you sign up for one do not sign up for the other. If you disregard this and sign up for both, we will drop you from the league of our choosing

Location: Throughout the D.C. Metropolitan area, including downtown D.C., Arlington/Fairfax, VA, and Montgomery County, MD. Since WAFC has no control over the weather, we cannot guarantee all scheduled games will be played.

Gender Ratio: Each team will have 17 guys and 7 women. For games the gender ratio is 5:2, unless both teams have 5 women present, then it is 5:2/4:3, offense dictates.

Baggaging: Baggaging is allowed in Advanced league with several conditions:

1. Baggage trains are limited to two people (you and one other person). If you are a volunteering to be a captain, your baggage will serve as your co-captain. There is currently a spot for a 2nd baggage request, but that is left over from a previous form. We will not be honoring multiple baggage requests.

2. Each person baggaging must fill out a registration form and each person must request the other person as his baggage in the comments form of your registration. Indicate this by either putting the person's WAFC username down or real name.

3. NEW THIS YEAR: We will be placing restrictions on who can baggage together for draft purposes. No two first round players of the same gender will be allowed to baggage or captain together. This is done to allow for more choice for captains in the opening rounds of the draft.

NOTE: All baggage requests will be reviewed by the commissioner and granted at his discretion. If you have a question about your baggage request please feel free to email the commissioner

Captain's responsibilities: Advanced league is only made possible because of individuals who volunteer to captain a team. This involves drafting your team on draft night, selecting a team name and jersey color, and forwarding information from WAFC to your players about games and league events. As this is a draft league, it also helps to have at least some knowledge of the players in the region. However, if you are new to the region and would like to captain, we are more than happy to partner you up with knowledgeable 'draft advisors' for the draft night who will help you select your team. As a captain in advanced league, you or your co-captain must be able to attend the draft, which will be held on Tuesday, June 8th at Hawk 'n' Dove at 7 P.M.

Dropping Players: Every year there are more men that sign up than there are slots that are available. This means that some players will be dropped down to Intermediate from Advanced League.

IMPORTANT: By joining the WAFC Summer Advanced League, you agree to abide by all WAFC policies regarding field usage, player conduct, and other league rules. Joining WAFC Advanced League includes membership in the Washington Area Frisbee Club for the calendar year during which the league takes place. So before I sign up for this

So before I sign up for this summer league I was hoping to find out more information about where games are played. I will be interning in DC this summer and will not have a vehicle. Of course, as any true ultimate player would do, I can find a way to the fields whether it be a taxi or a tricycle I steal from a kid on the street but it would be nice to know if there is a more definite field space instead of arlington, VA, downtown DC, Montgomery County, MD...etc. Is there more information posted on this?

The fields are all over the

The fields are all over the metro region. With the exception of Lake Fairfax and Argyle they are within a reasonable distance of the city for someone working with Metro/bike/walking. Those two fields are further out. Games are primarily at the closer fields, which many people get to via Metro/carpool. Generally, if you can plan a day or two ahead you can Metro to a stop close enough for someone to give you a lift to the field, or just Metro and walk/bike.

Here's the map of the fields .

time

what time do games go on usually?

No games during the weekdays

No games during the weekdays will be happening at Fairfax. Games usually start at 7 and go until they are over. If you play on a turf field with lights, your games will end promptly at 8:30 to make room for the next game.

Getting to the fields

Im coming from Quantico via car. And I live in Alexandria close to Annandale. What would be the best way to get to most places? To drive to a metro station and take it there? Or to just drive there? Im not from around this area.

Depending on traffic reports,

Depending on traffic reports, your best bet will probably be to continue on to 395 from 95 (if you're coming from Quantico) to get to any Arlington field location (Bluemont or W&L) or DC (polo fields, Marine barracks, Anacostia?). There is free parking at all of those fields. Hopefully with the "reverse commute" traffic won't be too terrible for you. Getting to Maryland (Sligo), on the other hand, will be pretty tough for you. Not worth driving all the way around the beltway with DC summer traffic. I think there's a nearby metro though.
